So, back in 2002, after the loss to old age and infirmity of our beloved old Blue Heeler, Cody, hubby and I set out to add another big dog to our household of terriers. We both liked the idea of having a bigger dog around the house as protector for when hubster worked out of town and for hikes with the terriers out in the woods 'n such. And, since hubby had acquired an interest in waterfowl and upland game-bird hunting, our next big dog was going to be one that could hunt. Completely new to the bird dog scene, we spent a lot of time researching and narrowing down until we decided to get a Deutsch Drahthaar, a true working version of the German Wirehaired pointer. Cooper was purchased sight unseen after spending weeks discussing our wants and needs with his breeder and having him choose the right pup for us. I have to admit I was a little nervous when we picked him up 6 years ago at the airport (he traveled in the cabin with his breeder's Colorado-bound son-in-law), wondering what the little guy was going to look like...

D'awwww. Yeah, he was adorable. Love at first sight. And, just like Mr. Jared Tristan Padalecki, his full name is a mouthful:
Cammo vom Flutwasser

Now, I don't have any pictures of Jared as a baby or very young child to compare Coop's with but I think it's safe to assume that he was a cute kid who was probably bigger than most of his peers. Just like Cooper who, at 8 weeks, already was taller than most of my girls and, in a matter of just a few weeks, outweighed and outsized my boys too. This looks to be the youngest shot I could find of him:

D'awwww. I'll leave you to decide if he's as cute as little Cooper ;).

Based on what we've seen of Jared, it's pretty reasonable to assume that he was an active kid and was probably all arms, legs, and floppy bangs (if not ears) even at a young age...

We do know that Jared was a bright student and won accolades and competitions, even at a national level and, like Jared, Cooper has excelled in his schooling too. Star of his obedience classes, he also went on to excel at his field-dog training and, five years after running through the equivalent of high-school (called the Herbstzucht-Prüfung or HZP in the German judging system), his test score still stands as the highest ever in the country. Not bad at all for 2 ginodorks *g*

So, I could go on and on about Cooper but, since pictures are worth a thousand words, I'm going to use more photos to tell the story about not only the character that is our big guy, but also to show just how Jared-like he really is. Part 3 of this little enterprise will have most of them...

Terriers - Kismet Grin

LOL, definitely adorable! I wish I could've posted this in one entry but, between my lack of talent and lj's glitching tonight, I had to go with 4 parts ::sigh:: Thanks for humoring me ;)

Geez, Jared was too damned pretty as a boy, just like Jensen. Poor boys.

LOL, it must've been such torture... not.

They'be both improved with age by leaps and bounds though. Which is not only scary and unbelieveable, but should be illegal too *g*

Jeff too!!
