Writer's Block: Same Name

May 18th, 2009 (01:04 pm)
where i am: inside when I should be out
how i am: busy
accompanied by: the birds chirping outside

Have you ever met or known someone who has the same name as you (first and last) but is not a relative?
No, but not at all surprising, given that my last name was (before I married a "Robinson" and gladly claimed that generic name) *very* Ukrainian and 2 of its 4 vowels were Ys.

Though, back in high school, when Parker Stevenson and Shaun Cassidy were fluttering our hearts as the Hardy Boys, the main guest character on their big 2-part eppy one season had a name thisclose to mine, it garnered me a lot of attention for a couple of weeks. She was an escapee from Russia, hence the weird last name. That her first name was mine too was extremely bizarre though. It wasn't creepy but definitely felt odd ;).

Anyone remember the ep? David Gates and Bread guested on it (ducks head and hides from Dean Winchesters eye-roll of mortification)

I don't remember the episode, but I do remember watching the show, LOL. Let me guess - one of the boy had a crush on the escapee? :) Hope you're doing well! :)

Terriers - Kismet Grin

IIRC, I think she was actually in love with a member of Bread and was smuggled out of the country. Not sure why she was in danger though... maybe the evil commies were just pissed with her for escaping?

God, I'd hate to see that show now... I bet it would *not* hold up with time ;)

All is well, just incredibly busy with RL and drowning in a flist I just can't seem to catch up on. I think I'm going to have to cut some comms I get notifications on - just need time to decide which ones and then take the time to do it.

How are you doing?

Geez, time has flown... how old are the pups now?

LOL! Well, hasn't that happened to all of us at one time or another? ;)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it would hold up about as well as CHiPs. Yikers! :)

I know what you mean about RL. But don't drown! I hope things settle down for you soon. :)

I'm doing well, just super busy with kids and dogs. The pups are four and a half months, and still precious. I'm not sure Huck will make it through the summer here (the neurological issues he has seem to be getting worse), but when his time does come, I'm sure a couple of them will come over here. My four year-old calls the girl Penelope "Penelopeep". It's cute. :)

ChiPs? Yikers is right! I think I'd bust a gut re-watching the roller-disco ep LOL

So sorry to hear about Huck... these guys just break our hearts. They're like Winchesters, only a lot cuddlier!

I took my 4 oldest for walks in the gorgeous weather today (taking them out in pairs) and they all looked so fit and spry for their ages yet I look at Boomer and see how much muscle tone he's lost in his hind end, how Dempsey came up lame on his front no matter how careful I was to keep him on the more cushiony grass and pathways instead of sidewalks and, how Flurry has suddenly gone profoundly deaf in just a matter of a few months... sigh. Only Kismet seemed 100% and even with her, we now lift her out of her elevated crate because she's prone to front lameness now too. She's the youngest of the old farts, turning 11 tomorrow. They were thrilled to go for these walks and happy as hell during them... it's me that dwells on the negatives, the signs of sadness to come, even as I'm enjoying myself walking along with them ::sniff::

Though I definitely have no desire to add to my numbers, 5 month old pups would definitely be day-brighteners! I bet they are utterly adorable. *Love* Penelopeep -- that is too cute :)

Awww, the poor doggies. It's so hard to see them get older. But I bet they just love being out with you. :) But I know what you mean; at some point, you realize your time with them is growing short. :(

Huck has gone through eight of his nine lives, I'm afraid. He used to rally, but now whatever neurological issue he has is making it hard for him to control his front legs now, too, where it used to just be his back legs that were the trouble. And he's deaf (at least he seems to be), and half-blind. But he's on pain meds and he sleeps most of the time and seems content, and has put on some weight. I hope when the time does come, that I'll know, and be sure.

The pups are definitely a joy. They're so adorable and bright-eyed. They remind me of Huck when he was little; and he was a handful, LOL :)

I hope when the time does come, that I'll know, and be sure.

I share the same hope for both of us but also feel confident that we will ;)
