Posting Nostalgic (For Arrenall) - "Seven Brides" Cast Photo

February 13th, 2008 (07:29 pm)
where i am: with 3 of the terriers
how i am: nerdy
accompanied by: Steve Miller, Fly Like an Eagle

It's all big_pink's fault. Yesterday, there I was, minding my own business when all of a sudden I saw that my fellow Canuck had posted a new entry. Not just any entry, mind you. Rather, a let's get nostalgic and list our first TV crushes entry. Resistance on my part was futile.

++++

First crush?

Rick Springfield. But not the human, flesh and blood Rick. Rather, the cartoon Rick. This guy:

Dude! I was 8 *g*

David Cassidy was a very early crush too. Little Joe and Blue Cannon (ugh!) were the first of my many western crushes, then came Heath Barkley (& big bro Nick!) and others that came along were Pete and Geoffrey D(e)uel (Pete still breaks my heart), Jim Stacy & Wayne Maunder in Lancer, and of course Bruce B in HtWwW. The Lancer brothers I still have it bad for and have been posting an epic Lancer fic elsewhere for the last few months.

God, I had sooo many crushes, it was certifiably insane ridiculous. I'm trying to envision my posters, restricted to the back of my bedroom door.

The biggest one was of Soul & Glaser in their S&H attire. The Torino was in the picture too, of course. I was always a sucker for muscle cars. My man was David though, loved him from Here Come the Brides (& Bobby Sherman too). I hold no shame in having had that poster. Can't quite say the same for Parker Stevenson & Leif Garrett though. Yup, I even owned Leif's album (LOL).

My crushes ran the gamut, Wesley Eure from both Land of the Lost and Days of Our Lives. Mike Nesmith, James Naughton (Burke, Planet of the Apes), Michael Cole, Robert Conrad, Lawrence Casey (Hitch, Rat Patrol), Tim Matheson, Jameson Parker.

My biggest soap crush was Richard Dean Anderson. Man, I had it *bad* for Jeff Webber! Followed him to Seven Brides and fell for Roger Wilson (younger brother Daniel, while there).

Yes, I was a TV addict. Now, all I watch is SPN. When the hubby's out of town, I can go days on end without ever turning on the TV. Not Thursdays though ;)

So, over here on the thread, arrenall  saw my comments and asked about Roger Wilson from Seven Brides. So, my sole purpose for posting this entry tonight is to provide a picture to show her *g*. And, instead of doing laundry as planned and starting dinner as planned, I've just spent the last 2 hours not at all obsessively trying to find my favorite group promo photo of the "McFadden Family". Yes, I *do* remember specific photos promoting the show from TV Guide 25 years ago. It's a curse gift.

Roger, BTW, was the adorably hot-tempered and beaten-to-a-pulp Mickey in Porky's and at least its first sequel.

C'mon! It's a classic. I have no shame in admitting having watched it (see Dean icon above).

So here, without further ado (I know, it's a little late for that!), is a picture of Roger Wilson, amongst such well known older and younger "brothers" including Richard Dean Anderson, Peter Horton, Drake Hogestyn, and little12 year old River Phoenix.

The cast of the 1982/83 TV series Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, clockwise from the top right: Drake Hogestyn, Tim Topper, River Phoenix, Bryan Utman, Roger Wilson, Peter Horton and Richard Dean Anderson. The lucky lady surrounded by all that gorgeousity is Terri Treas.

Once I fell for him on GH, I followed wherever he appeared. I watched him on every talk show possible; watched his singing performance on Dinah Shore *g*, fell for his guest starring character "Andy" on the New FBI and Seven Brides was like nirvana for me since I loved Peter Horton too. Then fell for Roger also! Ironically, McGuyver never captured me the way it should have.

There's just no accounting for the fickle tastes of a teenage girl!
